CHALLENGE:
Introduce the NEW Hyundai Sonata to Central Texas. Build stronger brand image among young hip-hop audience.
Generate dealer traffic and give consumers a chance to see the Hyundai product line.
SOLUTION:
Hyundai and the Emmis Marketing Group created a 6-week promotional campaign that included a heavy radio
presence and on-site exposure to thousands of consumers as the TITLE sponsor of the Hoop it Up 3 vs. 3
basketball tournament.
Part of the Title sponsorship included category excluisive dealership distribution of the Hoop It Up
Registration Packets. To generate awareness for this we partnered with the leading radio station for the
targeted demographic in Austin, Hot 93.9 FM Hip Hop and R & B. Hyundai received promotional support from
Hot 93.3 encouraging consumers to go to the dealerships to to get their packets and join in the tournament.
At the event, Hyundai was given space to display 10 vehicles on-site at Hoop It Up and was the sponsor of
the Main-Event Court. EMG also created custom-made Hyundai Feature Finder register slips where consumers
on-site at Hoop it Up could learn about the new Sonata while filling out their form. These register slips
also provided follow-up contact information for the dealers
RESULT:
Hyundai has seen strong sales of the new Hyundai Sonata. Hyundai received hundreds of qualified leads as a
result of the 'Feature Finder' promotional concept. EMG is currently working with Hyundai on future events
and promotions.
