Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Indiana, Little Red Door Cancer Agency, and American Lung Association of Indiana |
CHALLENGE:
Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Indiana believes in the importance of preventative
healthcare. Anthem teamed up with Emmis Community Outreach to make an impact on the
Indiana community by assisting various non-profit organizations in their endeavors and
raising public awareness of various health issues. In this partnership, Anthem and Emmis
worked to promote the prostate cancer services provided by the Little Red Door Cancer
Agency and highlight asthma as a health concern addressed by the American Lung Association (ALA).
SOLUTION:
Emmis Community Outreach helped Anthem remain prominent on the Indiana healthcare scene
by crafting a series of 60-second educational health vignettes featuring Anthem Indiana's
Dennis Casey. The two-month educational campaign aired on 1070-AM WIBC. The first month
profiled the Little Red Door's prostate cancer services and linked listeners to resources
for screening throughout Indianapolis. These messages ran in the weeks preceding the Little
Red Door's "Unite 2 Fight Prostate Cancer" run/walk event. The second month of the campaign
corresponded with the hot summer month of July, raising community awareness of the warning
signs of asthma and encouraging parents to be conscious of their children's asthma.
Through these on-air messages, Casey and leaders from ALA and the Little Red Door were
able to communicate the need for Hoosiers to develop healthy, active lifestyles to the
broad WIBC audience.
RESULT:
Nancy Turner, from the American Lung Association of Indiana, said the community took note
of and benefited from the radio campaign executed on Emmis airwaves. Consequently, their
call center received a swell of calls related allergies and asthma. John Aleshire, from
the Little Red Door Cancer Agency, was also happy with the campaign executed by Emmis
Community Outreach, saying it increased community awareness of and interest in the cancer
agency. Emmis Community Outreach will continue to support efforts such as this in hopes
of helping local organizations and making Hoosiers more aware of important health issues.
