CLIENT:   Purina / Open Door Animal Sanctuary / KIHT (KHITS 96)

CHALLENGE:
Purina was looking to increase sales of various pet foods through a St. Louis grocery retail, Schnucks. Through this sales promotion, Purina also wanted to help local animal shelters and be seen as a great community partner.

SOLUTION:
Emmis Community Outreach partnered with the Open Door Animal Sanctuary to hold pet adoption fairs at many of the St. Louis area Schnucks grocery stores. On-air messages directed listeners to visit the KHITS 96 website to see pet profile that would be available for adoption at each of the grocery stores. Then, each Saturday for six weeks, a traveling pet adoption fair was held at different stores in the area. Listeners were also invited to drop by the pet fair and donate blankets, pet food, toys and much more.
Additionally, Purina offered listeners a special discounted rate on selected Purina products at Schnucks.


RESULT:
Through this six week multi-platform program, Purina helped the Open Door Animal Sanctuary adopt out more than 20 pets at the various Schnucks stores in the St. Louis area. Hundreds of pounds of dog and cat food were donated along with many toys, blankets and other needs of the Sanctuary. Emmis Community Outreach and Purina have since teamed up on similar programs and have again seen great success.
