Indiana Wireless 911 Advisory Board, American Heart Association |
CHALLENGE:
The Indiana Wireless 911 Advisory Board and the American Heart Association teamed up to
ensure that consumers were aware of the difference between their wireless 911 coverage and
their home phone 911 coverage, and to encourage them to inquire about E911 coverage when
purchasing wireless phones.
SOLUTION:
Emmis Community Outreach was able to help this important cause through aiding in the
development and execution of an educational campaign informing Indiana residents about
gaining the ability to use the 911 service from a mobile phone. A total of 11,839 radio
messages aired on WIBC and across the state through Network Indiana, a custom-designed
website and incorporation in WIBC's major station events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
were all opportunities that Emmis Community Outreach lined up for this partnership.
RESULT:
As a result of these efforts, public knowledge of cellular 911 coverage increased.
Sixty-six counties in Indiana participated in Phase II coverage, up from 60 in 2002.
Eleven wireless service providers in Indiana provided 911 coverage, increasing from nine
at the start of the campaign. Emmis Community Outreach is proud to have helped these
organizations to spread this important news throughout Indiana.
