CHALLENGE:
Joy's House came to Emmis Community Outreach with a challenge; they needed to create a
program that would educate the community of their services and have adult children of
aging parents contact Joy's House about adult care options. The Nina Mason Pulliam
Charitable Trust provided support to Joy's House enabling Emmis Community Outreach to
create a program that educated the public as to what adult day services include, why
they are important, and where to find more information.
SOLUTION:
Understanding this is a delicate, but important issue, WIBC took the lead in creating
the comprehensive education campaign. This first year partnership incorporated WIBC
personality Terri Stacy on-air, at Joy's House, and online at WIBC.com. Throughout
the campaign, Terri made weekly visits to Joy's House interacting with clients and
learning more about Joy's House. As Terri grew to love Joy's House, she shared her
experiences with listeners in her online diary. Throughout the partnership, WIBC
promoted various Joy's House events. As a result of these efforts, Joy's House has
informed the central Indiana community about adult day care and has experienced a
great deal of increased interest in Joy's House.
RESULT:
Through the alliance of Joy's House and WIBC, each of the educational components worked
together to put listeners at ease about adult day services and help them understand the
care provided for aging loved ones by Joy's House.
Emmis was pleased to work with Joy's House to establish a program that educates the
community about the importance of quality care for aging loved ones and looks forward
to continuing the partnership in the future.
